Classroom Behavior
As described in the Missouri Western State University Student Handbook. “Students are expected to conform to the normal standards of academic behavior in all classrooms. In addition to normal standards of academic behavior, instructors may establish reasonable additional classroom rules and expectations for conduct in the classroom. Behavior which disrupts the classroom environment or interferes with other students’ ability to learn may be grounds or justification for dismissal from the classroom.”

Following include expected standards of behavior in MWSU Psychology classrooms.

  • Students will be respectful of the instructor and their peers. Respect your peer’s right to learn and the instructor’s right to teach.
  • Within science there are many different viewpoints, perspectives, and interpretations. Some of these have deep social, economic, and political ramifications. Students must be respectful of these various positions within the classroom. Listen to what others are saying. Class discussion is often an important part of learning. Do not ridicule or criticize another class member or the instructor.
  • Be prepared for class when class starts.
  • Respect others’ person and property.
  • Make an honest attempt to cooperate and participate in all activities.
  • Follow any given instructions when they are given.
  • Never use offensive or objectionable language.

Threatening, aggressive, or disruptive behavior in the classroom will not be tolerated. A student who exhibits any of these behaviors will be asked to leave the classroom.
