Missouri Western State University has a tradition of alternating Commencement Ceremony speakers, with a faculty member speaking each Fall, and a graduating senior each Spring. At this time, Student Affairs is requesting nominations of seniors who should be considered as a class representative to speak at Commencement ceremonies. The nomination is due by Friday, February 22, 2019.

Students MAY self-nominate. Student Affairs will contact all nominees to inform them of their nomination and next steps.

At least one practice session will be scheduled with the selected speaker with the Student Commencement Speaker Committee and the President of MWSU. Additional sessions may be scheduled, as needed or desired.

The importance and honor of this responsibility cannot be understated. The selected student speaker will speak to the graduating class during the inaugural outdoor commencement on Saturday, May 4, 2019. The message is short, lasting about 7 to 10 minutes.
