Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of regularly scheduled, out-of-class group study and content review sessions. SI sessions are facilitated by a trained student-peer leader who guides with engaging activities to encourage small group interaction.
  • SI sessions are free to currently enrolled MWSU students.
  • All students, regardless of grade standing, benefit from attending SI because sessions are geared to mastering challenging course concepts.
  • Attending SI sessions may improve performance by as much as a full letter grade.
  • Group study sessions can be much more effective and efficient than studying alone.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact the Susan Garrison at 816-271-4401.
See below for a current list of our SI session times.

SI Leaders organize and plan sessions to reinforce understanding of difficult course concepts using collaborative learning activities and study techniques.  Because SI Leaders previously completed the course with a high level of competency, SI Leaders are equipped to share knowledge from a more experienced perspective.

In addition to helping your fellow students succeed academically, being a SI leader is a great way to engage in and build community at Missouri Western. The leadership experience, people skills, and network connections you forge through your participation in the SI program will have lasting influence on your journey beyond college.
