The CAS provides trained peer tutors who assist with writing assignments in all academic disciplines at Missouri Western.

Tutors deliver constructive feedback and give students tools and strategies to brainstorm, draft, revise, and polish their writing. It is the goal of every tutor to help students improve and grow as writers!

Writing tutors can help students with:

Our tutors work with students one-on-one for half-hour sessions, focusing on any aspect of the writing process. In addition, students can submit papers online via TracCloud and have a tutor review their assignment and provide feedback within 2 business days. Handouts covering a variety of writing topics are available for student use are also available in print or digitally.

WRITING TUTORING SERVICES

In-Person Writing Appointments

  • Meet with a Writing Tutor for a 30 minute in-person, one-on-one session.
  • To schedule an in-person appointment with a Writing Tutor call (816) 271-4524 or stop by the CAS front desk.
  • Walk-ins are welcome for in-person tutoring sessions.

Online Writing Appointments

  • Meet with a Writing Tutor in a 45-minute, one-on-one Zoom appointment.
  • Upload your essay draft and assignment sheet at the time of the appointment to allow the tutor to prepare for the session.
  • Online zoom appointments are made through TracCloud.
    • TracCloud allows you to search for and set up appointments based on your current course schedule as well as view any upcoming appointments you have with tutors in the CAS.
    • You can also opt-in for text alerts for confirmations, cancellations, and appointment reminders for any tutoring appointments you make with a CAS tutor.
    • Log in with your Missouri Western username and password to start searching for appointments.

Submit a Paper Online for Peer Review

  • Submit a paper online via TracCloud and have a Writing Tutor peer review your assignment.
  • Make an appointment in TracCloud and select the purple appointment slot.
  • A CAS writing tutor will review the assignment and provide feedback within 2 business days of your submission.
  • When submitting a paper, be sure to include the assignment sheet and a note stating what you want help with specifically.
  • A tutor will message you on TracCloud when feedback is completed.
  • To view feedback, ensure that the “Show Comments” feature is active in Microsoft Word.
